The Bulletin of the Scrimgeour Clan Association

Ruins of the ancient parish Church of Kilneuair, dating from the 13th century, are hidden away in the afforested southern Lochaweside near Fincharn Castle. A few yards from the old Church stands the separate little old ruin depicted on the cover. It is tiny. Some 4m by 3m with walls 1/2m thick; there is not much room inside.

In the Inventory of Argyll, it is referred to as an 'oratory' associated with the ruined Church. Scrimgeours held the office of rector and vicar of Kilneuair for most of the 15th and 16th centuries. To some half dozen generations of Scrimgeours this must therefore have been a particularly sacred place.
