THANKS TO DUNDEE

The Captain of a ship takes the blame but the credit too, whatever happens likewise the Lord Provost of a City, regardless of party, is answerable. This year has seen the end of Lord Provost Thomas Mitchell's captaincy of the City of Dundee hence it is opportune to put on record our thanks to him personally and his city.

Why personal thanks? I have written on several occasions to him, sent copies of the Skirmisher and kept him in the picture especially with hopes and aspirations for Dudhope Castle. Not only have I invariably had warm, understanding, friendly replies but I can vouch for immediate responses. We knock the Post Office frequently, but Balfron - Dundee mail is literally first class - for the Lord Provost - and me!

Thanks to his city'? Again all the adjectives apply to letters from Parks, Museums and Art Galleries, Economic Development Department and others. Whatever the outcome finally for us and our hoped for presence in Dudhope Castle, we must now, in the name of Thomas Mitchell, put on record our thanks to the City of Dundee District Council for all that has been achieved during his Lord Provostship.
