BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES
- I would like to thank everyone for their congratulations on the birth of Graham and my son Benjamin Alexander Cameron on 14 February 2000, the best valentines present I have ever received.
- Our sympathy goes to the family and friends of Helen Eleanor Scrimger Gueffroy who died on August 24 2000 in Charles City, Iowa. She was one of the earliest members of the society and her obituary from the local paper is reproduced below.
- A newspaper account has been received that notes the death of Dr. J. W. Scrimgeour of Thunder Bay, Ontario while he was vacationing in Dundee Sept. 17, 1999 at the age of 78 years. Born in Vancouver, but raised in Scotland, he moved to Canada in 1957 where he has since resided. Dr. Scrimgeour is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marie, children Graham, Fiona and Jackie and ten grandchildren.
- A second newspaper account notes the death of Jean Donaldson Wilson (nee Scrimgeour) who passed away peacefully on April 2, 2000. A Memorial Service was held in Victoria, B. C., Canada. Born October 3, 1911 at St. Martins, N.B., Canada, Jean spent much of her early life in Trinidad where her father was a missionary for the United Church. She in turn was a nurse whose work extended from public health duties in Ontario, service with the RCAMC during World War II in Britain, Italy and Northwest Europe, to assisting at Red Cross blood donor clinics in the 1990's. Predeceased by her husband Earle Wilson, her sons Alfred and Allan Wilson, her sister Margaret Scrimgeour, and her brother Ralph Scrimgeour. Jean is survived by her daughter Maxine Conn, her sister Gladys Petrie, her daughter-in-law Donna Guilfoyle, and two grandsons.
